I found it!!

So...I found an actual pattern for the anon corner stitch. I'm so happy, this means I can learn the correct way to decrease into a square. :D
Found this totally by accident on tumblr. of course, this project is on hold until I finish catching up with my mood blocks and the baby blanket.

Hope everyone is doing well!

Snow and Blanket Repair

(Stay tuned to the end of the post for the crafty ish stuff.)

La! How is everyone today? I can honestly say that I am doing 100% better than yesterday. I had actually written a mile long wall of text last night to post today. But as I was going on 32ish hours without sleep, I'm really glad I decided to wait lol. Trust me, you don't want to see my rambling post about what my day was like yesterday. Suffice it to say that, yesterday was an experience I'd rather NOT repeat. I spent the morning ecstatic about the pretty snow, the midmorning worried sick about my Daddy who was stuck on the road with thousand of Alabamians. Then I spent the early afternoon (still worrying) And heading to the ER with my cousin who spun out and ended up in the ditch. And the ambulance, ended up in the ditch as well...with us in it. This is Alabama guys! We just don't deal with this type of weather very often, and certainly not when it's not in the forecasted. So yeah...Yesterday was a long day, but it did get better. My cousin only had bruised ribs, and though I spent all afternoon worrying about my Dad because I couldn't get the phone to work when I was finally able to get through he'd been home for an hour, and our little forray into the ditch didn't end with anyone injured. And despite closed roads and no vehicle my cousin and I managed to hitch a ride home with a really sweet off duty Policeman who was there at the ER with his mom. Thank God for kind people. I met several angels yesterday. :D

Alright...On to photo's! Of the snow...hope you guys don't mind that this blog post isn't totally crafty. ^^

This is Riddick, My Mom's Doxxie

My baby was FAR from happy about all this white stuff. xD

This is Whizzer...he belongs to all of us...but he loves my Dad the most.

Snow ice cream!!! :D

So, the other  night (before the snow) I hear threads ripping on the bed behind me. I turn and look and it's my precious Ruby tearing up my blanket! I love my dog...but I wanted to KILL her... At some point she'd 'buried' her bone in my blanket and then out of frustration of not being able to get it out she just tore into it. I guess this wouldn't have been so bad for me except that the blanket came from my grandmother a couple of years ago. So it has sentimental value.
So these are the holes...there are two distinct ones, ad then a lot of pulling and bunching.

At first I wasn't sure what I was going to do, except perhaps cry. But then I wondered if I could sew patches on it on both sides to contain the damage. But since it's a cotton blanket I wasn't so sure that would work. Then I saw my cotton yarn and said...oh...I could do that too. So I got my cotton yarn and I started sewing up the holes. The first one was rather...messy, but by the time I got to the second hole I had the technique down baby. And this is what I ended up with.

No more holes!!!! I'm not done yet though. I've decided to crochet up a couple of patches, probably four in total, one for each side for each hole. Sew the patches on each side even with each other and pretty much encase the bad areas. It will hopefully contain the holes and keep them from pulling apart. It was the only solution I could think of that I could do personally. I will keep you all updated as I continue to work on this project.

On other Nieces baby shower is in a week and I haven't made any progress on the baby blanket, and I haven't made any more mood blocks yet. The next few days I'm going to be trying to catch up with all that.

I hope you all have a good Thursday!

Freak Snow Storm

So...I was going to post a new blog post today! But...we had a freak unforecasted snowstorm to happen. It's been a heck of a day, and I'm exhausted. But I wanted to say Hi to all of my new followers! I can't wait to get to know all of you! I haven't gotten to skim my comments yet but hopefully I can do that soon. Also...I was able to make my first snow angel in my entire life...and it came out much like Patrick's over there lol. :D I hope you all are in far better shape than Alabama is in right now. Please keep us in your prayers this week!
I felt much like this kitten today....
PS: please let me know if my new blog colors are too dark to read. :)

Grow Your Blog!

Hello there!
I hope you are all having a wonderful day and I first want to thank you for stopping by my blog!

Welcome to Crochet Bliss!
I've never been very good at introducing myself on these types of things but I'll do my best for you today!
Guess I'll start off with a few facts, yes? My name is Bliss, and I'm a 23 year old college student. I go to school in Dallas Tx but I live with my family in Alabama. I'm currently taking off a semester to help out my family, and I plan to return to the bustling city life of Dallas in August.

I decided to create this blog at the beginning of the year in part to help me stay motivated in my projects and perhaps connect with other crafters around the world. I was inspired by some friends over at Deviant art who also blog. And since I like to write, and show off the things I make, what better place to do that than a blog?

My main area of crafting is Crochet, though I dabble in embroidery sometimes, I've come to love crochet and what I can create with a simple strand of yarn and a hook. My grandmother taught me how to crochet when I was a kid but I could never really get it so I put it down. Over a year ago, a friend of mine was making a slouchy hat one day, and I kinda decided that I was going to make one too, just to prove that I could. I just wasn't aware of how much I would come to enjoy and love it.  And then I started making Amigurumi (Crocheted stuffed animals) And That was all she wrote. :D Now I don't go a day without doing a few stitches on something.

I currently have several W.I.P.s on my hooks and I thought I'd share a couple with you guys.

The first is a wip of a granny stripe blanket that I'm making for my oldest Niece's baby shower next month. I'm loving the way it's turning out already and I've barely started it!.

The next is a corner to corner stitch...I think. My Niece taught it to me but I'm not sure what the actual stitch is called. But it's worked from the corner in an alternating pattern and I really like how it works up. This is really just my practice yarn, I think once I get the stitch down and can handle the decreasing to make it square I'll make a washcloth with it. :D

I also wanted to share a couple of photo's of my lil Alien (God-daughter and youngest Nie
ce) She's amazingly spoiled and I love her to death. And then there's my baby. Ruby, she's six years old and a grumpy old maid. (Just in case you're confused, she's a mini doxen.)  And these two are my girls!

she was watching Lalaloopsy on Netflix the camera hound

And since I was snapping photo's this afternoon I thought I'd snap a few of my work area and show it off as well. I'm actually rather proud of it, as it took me two days to clean and get it organized in a way that I liked after I got home from school in December. As you'll see I have a love for all things Star Wars, and star Trek, Captian Jack sparrow and The Hobbit. I'm really rather nerdy, and so when I find things that I like from my favorite shows or books I like to put them on my wall of stuff. I think so far that I have a rather nice collection. :D It's not much but it's my space and I love it. ^^

I Hope you've enjoyed this brief tour into my life and work space and I hope you decide to follow me, or come back.

Oh, I almost forget. For the Grow your blog party, I'm having a giveaway! Anyone who comments on this blog post will be eligible to win. I'll use a random number generator to pick the winner. Hi yo! How is everyone doing?  I'm doing alright I got a little behind on my blocks this week, I did some major cleaning and revamping of my yarn storage over the weekend and my sister had surgery on Monday, it went great, Praise God!  But enough of that I'm all caught up now. (Minus todays block the 16th) So without further ado, here are my most recent blocks!

Dish Cloths

I finished my dishcloths this morning, while watching a bit of Sherlock (BBC Version) So now I have two more cloths to add to my collection. My goal is to use up all the cotton yarn in my stash.

I loved the pattern for the red one which I shared earlier and I will most likely make a few more with that pattern. It worked up quickly when I actually set about to hook it. And I'm pleased with the results. The orange one is so - so but I was admittedly bored with working with the orange as I made an orange washcloth recently. And it was large enough because of the treble stitches.

Mood Afghan Blocks, 9, 10 & 11

Sorry for the delay in getting these posted up. I was very unmotivated to even work on them. But I've caught up so here they are.

January 8, 2014 Mood Block Color - Variegated, I was in a mood that didn't fit any of my other colors.
Yarn: I love this Yarn in Songbird stripe.

January 9, 2014 Mood Block Color - White, Empty
Yarn: Redheart super saver - Aran (The block isn't actually as white as the photo shows. Too much post processing there.)

 Januray 10, 2013 Mood Block Color - Gray, Down/depressed.
Yarn: Redheart super saver in Charcoal.

In the next few days or possibly weeks I may not follow my mood chart exactly, it depends on how quickly I can accept and deal with the fact that I'm unable to go back to College this semester. And I really don't want a blanket full of gray blocks. So the colors may not always reflect my mood.

I haven't done my block of the day yet, but I did work up a thing for my ami's that I made in 2013 and I wanted to share it. I personally think it's an amazing feat for someone who didn't start making them until April. The sad thing is that not of a one of them is mine >.<  I am in the progress of another one...for myself I never really can tell.
So anyway here are my Ami's!

Hats and Hoods

What I worked on most of last night was a skull cap for my Mom to sleep in.  I think I did a rather good job of it really.

I used Yarn Bee yarn in Forest. I had originally planned to use this yarn for a 12x12 block, but I was unable to do so, because it just wouldn't work up properly. It was soft and perhaps too thin, or too heavy. So, I made a hat.

After this, I'm putting all other projects on hold until I finish my squares for the swap I'm in. I have roughly 4 squares to finish and I need to get them knocked out so I can get them shipped off to their owners.
Wish me luck!

Mood Afghan Block 7 & 8

So, I made two blocks for the I made in the early morning when my mood was not so great. The other I made in the afternoon after recieving a package from a dear friend in New York. It served to remind me that no matter how dark my thoughts my turn there is always someone there.

Monday, January 6, 2014

So I have a few WIPs today that I thought I'd share with you all today.

The first may only look like a ball of yarn but I had just frogged it to start over I'm attempting to make a hood/cowl for myself since I can't wear hats because of my hair. And it wasn't wide enough for what I wanted, so I had to frog it. So hopefully I'll have a little more substance on this one to show you soon.

The next two are dishcloths that I'm working on. The orange one is my own pattern of hdc (half double crochet) and tr (treble crochet) alternating rows.
The red one however is a pattern I found on a blog called The Good Life, and I really liked the pattern so I thought I'd try it. I like how it's working up so far, hopefully I'll be able to finish in the next day or so. :)

This next one is a mystery WIP, see if you can guess what it is before I finish it? So far this is all that I've done on it so far. As soon as I'm finished and have it all put together I'll link you to the pattern and such.
I hope you all have a good evening, and a blessed week!
